Hello families! My name is Mrs. McGowan, and this is my 8th year teaching! I taught second grade for three years on the Wind River Indian Reservation in
Ethete, Wyoming, fifth grade for three years here at Eyestone, and this is my second year teaching third grade. I loved teaching second and fifth, so third grade is the perfect happy medium for me.
My passion is teaching reading and seeing students fall in love with books!
I grew up in the small town of Lander, Wyoming and attended the University of Wyoming for my Bachelor’s degree. Afterward, I moved back home and taught in a school near my hometown. My husband and I moved to Fort Collins to get a taste of “big city” life (coming from a town of 7,000), but I was instantly drawn to the tight-knit community feel of Wellington. I have found wonderful friends in this community, and I am so lucky to teach such amazing kids! I love teaching here!
In our free time, my husband and I enjoy being outdoors camping and fishing, and I love to climb when I get the chance. We have a cat (Calvin) and a dog (Luna) that we love to spoil. I also enjoy watching and playing all sports, but volleyball is my favorite. I am currently working on my Master’s degree in Literacy Education at UNC, and I love taking my new learning and applying it in the classroom setting.
