Gitali (Tania) Habenicht

Music Teacher

I am so excited to be sharing music with you throughout the school year. This is my first year teaching at Eyestone and I am already enjoying getting to know this amazing community. We are going to have lots of fun learning as we sing, move, dance and play instruments in class!

A little about me: I have a music education degree from Ithaca College and have had a lot of music training since then. I have lived in Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. I taught elementary music, choir and theater both in Wappingers Falls, New York and outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have also taught music classes in a variety of other settings to students ranging from toddlers to adults. Additionally, I spent that last 15 years performing in assemblies in elementary schools around the country focusing on celebrating our differences and practicing kindness towards ourselves and each other.

I am also a singer-songwriter, recording session vocalist, and have recorded 4 albums! My main instrument is voice and I also have experience playing piano, handpan, didgeridoo, oboe, and a bit of guitar and ukulele. I love collaborating with other musicians, artists and kids and I am thrilled that I will be collaborating with the Eyestone community! I now live in Fort Collins with my partner, my two stepsons (I prefer the term bonus-sons!), Jack the dog, Lisa the Crested Gecko, and several Chickens and Ducks! Outside of school I am a performer and I am also a yoga teacher. One of my favorite yoga experiences was when I worked in program where I taught yoga to students, teachers and administration in the Philadelphia school district. Taking the time to connect and center is an important part of our overall health! A few of my loves: dark chocolate, silliness, kindness, singing, dancing, riding my bike, yoga, strolling in nature, listening to crickets, and making sock animals out of the mysterious socks that lose their mates in the wash.

If you are curious about what your child will be learning in music class, you can connect to the links below to find out what we will be focusing on in each grade throughout the music curriculum. You are also welcome to reach out to me anytime if you have questions about your child’s experience in music class.
